ReVisit - 2011

Artists Kaspar Wimberley and Susanne Kudielka (also known as Treacle Theatre) have been working with the museum as part of the research team for the 'New Light on Old Bones' project. NLOB is a project to research and reinterpret the collection of natural history on display in the museum. The artists have played an integral role in how this is done, suggestion new and innovative ways to engage the community in the process and the outcome. Some of the projects they have initiated are; x-raying the taxidermy collections to create images which will inform redisplay and engagement opportunities, producing a community newspaper where editions are produced by different community groups answering the question of what nature means to them, which are then used to wrap the fish and chips at the local chippy, planting a herb garden informed by the books housed at the museum. You can find out more about the NLOB research project here.

The ReVisit blog will track the project

Working through June 2010, the artists held conversations with the community and staff of the museum to develop an innovative and exciting project that framed the museum’s archives in a new and challenging way.
