Welcome to Creativity Works - raising the profile of, and engagement with the arts in Pennine Lancashire
International designers Timorous Beasties work with Blackburn Cafe

New art work entitled Japonisme a la Brule le Noir designed by internationally acclaimed, award winning design duo Timorous Beasties has been installed in the window of the new El Greco café in the Pavilions on Church Street in Blackburn.
Commissioned by Creativity Works, the piece has drawn inspiration from the impressive collections of Japanese prints and prints of local landmarks housed in Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery as well as hinting at the cotton and wallpaper industries which have been so prevalent in the town. The work, which is part of the ReVisit campaign, has been designed to shed new light on the beautiful and curious collections housed at the museum and inspire and encourage people to visit and discover more treasures.
Timorous Beasties work can be seen internationally from New York to Paris, London to Milan. Their designs can be seen in a variety of diverse places from the walls of Michelin star restaurants to stage curtains at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and Wall Street, New York. By inviting such celebrated creative people to work in the area alongside our own home grown talent, Creativity Works hopes to highlight the wealth of culture available in Pennine Lancashire, challenge museums to use their collections in new ways and bring new audiences into the venues, places and spaces of Pennine Lancashire.
